This is a short video i filmed with my buddy Chris in my front yard. its some simple tricks i have been doing lately. not sure if their new, but their new to me ![]()
the first is a sea sick kinda thing that makes me smile every time and has been the cause of alot of bruises on my right hand…try it…you’ll see what i mean. i just love the flow of this trick and it can be done with so much personality. hence the name exaggeration. you can do it low and mechanical or you can exaggerate the hell out of it…also if you do it just right its the exact same beat as “the ants go marching one by one”
.
the second trick is a simple in and out repeater. with kind of a don’t touch the sides feel. the third trick is a variation of cupcakes. the same basic trick but with your freehand facing inward. the trick has a really weird feel to it and recently just what i like. the next two tricks are simple repeaters using the same chopsticks mount i cant seem to escape. nuff said… Read the rest of this entry »

Summer is coming, loads of contest: Worlds, Hong Kong Nationals, China Nationals, Taiwan Nationals. Not saying that I’m attending all of them, but maybe some, and trust me, the new Pros are gonna shine on stage!
Actually, there is much more to me than just yoyoing. I’m a college student as well as a part time swimming coach. Being an engineering student in HKUST, 2nd in Asia, aka the Hong Kong University of Stress and Tension, is not easy. The workload is HUGE, even industrial training in summer holidays. Meanwhile, I do coaching work after all my studies… hella busy! Read the rest of this entry »
a shout out.
Author: Ed Haponik

i’m doing pretty well. you know, having a good week. good month. good year. i got a cool new yo… fly colors and it has my name on it. i get a lot of stuff, y’know? some great free toys… some folding money… get to go to lots of great contests… receive far more attention and praise than i deserve, and yet i don’t seem to need to do anything apart from what i really enjoy to get it.
today, i wanted to send a shout out to those who aren’t having such a great week, or maybe just a typical mundane one – who don’t get free stuff and all expenses paid. to players whose every throw isn’t met with undue congratulation. to players who keep their egos in check and throw because throwing is a joy, and its own reward. i also wanted to say thanks to players who push their tricks up a mountain like sisyphus every day, and don’t complain when they roll right back down – who invent cool moves that no one besides themselves will ever care about. Cupcakes
Author: Guy Wright
Here is a short video i made with some of the tricks i cant get enough of lately. Ive been on a repeating trick binge and thought I’d share some of my favs.
the first is by far my favorite trick right now, its the perfect idea behind a repeating trick…to me at least. its just a simple chopsticks and then a rev of the same chopsticks. but man if it doesn’t just flow into itself in just the right way. makes me smile every time. not sure if its been done before but it now has a nice little spot in my heart. named cuzz my mom gave me a cupcake while filming.
the the next two tricks are some upside down triangle exit things ive been doing for months but i just love how they are the mirror images of each other and have such distinct character to them. so cinnamon and sugar seemed like fitting names.
the last trick is one i came up with about a month or so ago and i just like it cuzz it’s weird. named as a birthday present for my coworker/ friend Erik. cuzz i couldn’t afford a real present…and he is kinda weird
hope you guys enjoy these tricks and i have plenty more to come.
Teachin’ School, Throwin’ Yo
Author: Ed Haponik

so i have a new job. and, at least in some small part… i have yo-yoing to thank for it.
i’m a school-teacher again. although, i suppose one could argue that one doesn’t ’stop’ being a teacher, for the past 18 months i’ve stayed home with my little guy, alex. watching him learning to toddle around and communicate has been one of the most fulfilling experiences imaginable, and the two of us have bonded in ways that i never could have hoped for had i continued to work. he’s a ‘big boy’ now though; ready for school… and so am i. from the moment i left my last post, i knew i wasn’t ‘burnt out’; that if the right opportunity presented itself, i’d be ready and willing to get back into the classroom.
well, a few weeks ago… ‘the right opportunity’ called me up on the phone. the lower/middle school director of a local independent school had received my resume (not sure from whom, having saturated local schools with them in recent weeks). we had a great phone conversation and talked about teaching and sports and… yo-yoing.
