New for 2010: Team SPYY Contributions

hi. i’m ed haponik.
in effort to ring in 2010, (and to spice up the SPYY blog), the members of team SPYY will begin a series of regular contributions. since our members are each pretty unique and distinct, i’m fairly confident that we can do this in such a way that our perspectives won’t ‘bleed together’ and become redundant. just to make sure though, we’re going to divide up the duties.
steve buffel (proprietor of spyy) will obviously continue with his own posts about upcoming products and any news related to the company. someone needs to hold things down and tell you what’s dropping.
our resident 5a demi-god, jonrob, will use his corner to focus on ‘player lifestyle and culture’. i’m not sure if you noticed, but a lot of players are out there pushing visual envelopes and expressing seriously dynamic attitudes. if you’re a player, you’re a PART of something. as someone who holds a special appreciation for design, aesthetics, and general nastiness, jonrob is strategically poised to deliver these goods to you, and to help you to discern a good look from the bad.
guy wright has dominated those ubiquitous forum posts asking for everyone’s ‘favorite player’. his style is impetuous. his tricks are impregnable. he’s just ferocious. he wants your heart. he wants to eat your children. (too far on the tyson theme?) as such, guy’s basically gonna tell you how to be a better player. 1a trick theory, brief tutorials, presentation. he won’t teach you to ‘throw just like guy’… but he will help you throw like a better version of yourself.
for my part, i suppose i’m gonna do what i do pretty much everywhere. blather on about our sport as a ‘way of life’, about its connections to philosophy or to simple truth, and about what throwing can teach us. and no… i’m probably not going to use a whole lot of caps.
i dig our team. i think we represent four truly unique perspectives, and everybody has a completely different skill-set. part of our goal for this year will be to make this blog something you want to check, and i think we’ve got the capacity to do that. look for the spyy blog to get a lot more prolific in the new year.
… HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
